Hybrid solar project in Turfan completes first phase
With this development, Turfan will surpass 10 billion kWh in annual new energy generation.
The State Grid Turfan Power Supply Company has announced the completion of the first phase of the one million kilowatt solar thermal energy storage + photovoltaic integration project in Shanshan Qiketai, Turfan, Xinjiang.
According to the company, this is expected to add 2.13 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of new power generation annually. This also marks the first time that the annual power generation scale of new energy in the Turfan power grid will exceed 10 billion kWh.
The project has a total investment of $841,514.73 (CNY6b), with plans to build 900 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic power generation system, 100 MW solar thermal power generation system, and two 220 kilovolt (kV) booster stations.
At the beginning of the year, Turfan's power grid had an installed new energy capacity of 3.54 million kilowatt (kW), with an annual generation of 7 billion kWh. Since then, the addition of 1.3 million kW of new energy capacity is projected to increase annual new energy generation by 3.9 billion kWh, bringing the total annual generation to 10.9 billion kWh.
To support this project, the company has built the 220 kV transmission project of the Turfan Shanshan Jian Quan Zidong booster gathering Station.
