India to add over 30 GW of solar capacity in 2025
Majority will be from large-scale facilities.
Solar is expected to continue dominating India's renewable energy generation, with about 32.3 gigawatts (GW) of new capacity to be added in 2025.
According to JMK Research, this will include 22.8 GW from utility-scale, 7.5 GW from rooftop solar, and 2 GW from off-grid components.
In the wind segment, around 4.5 GW of new capacity is likely to be added this year.
JMK said that India added about 18.5 GW of new utility-scale solar capacity last year, which was 2.8 times higher compared to the annual solar installations of 6.5 GW in 2023.
About 3.4 GW of new wind capacity was also added in 2024, up by 21% as compared to 2023.
