Indonesia launches first containerised energy storage system

This operates off-grid.

The first and largest containerised battery energy storage system (CBESS) for solar power has been launched in Indonesia.

In a statement, SUN Energy said the project is located at PT Cipta Kridatama Jambi and has a capacity of 643.8 kilowatt-peak. It has a 1 megawatt-hour battery storage system housed in a 20-foot container.

The CBESS solar energy system operates off-grid, making it independent of the national electricity grid. Solar energy generated during the day is stored in batteries and released as needed.

Since it has a container-based design, it can be relocated to different sites as needed. This technology can also be scaled up or combined with other units to enhance energy storage and distribution efficiency.
