JERA, Chevron partner for CCS projects in Australia, US

This could ramp up the LNG relationship between the two companies.

JERA and Chevron Energies entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for their collaboration to develop carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in Australia and the US.

In a joint statement, the parties said the signing came following the MOU they signed in November 2022 on the potential co-development of low-carbon fuel in Australia and liquid organic hydrogen carriers in the US.

JERA and Chevron added that the new MOU could expand their relationship on liquified natural gas.

Gaku Takagi, executive officer, head of the Resource Procurement & Investment Division of JERA, noted that the company aims to reach zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 and the collaboration shows the parties' commitment to bringing forward lower carbon solutions.
