Masdar-EDF JV switches on 2 solar projects on Yas Island
The two projects have a total capacity of 1.52 MWp.
Emerge, a joint venture of Masdar and EDF Group, started the operations of two high-profile solar projects on Yas Island.
In a statement, Masdar said one of the projects includes the one-megawatt-peak slar car park at Ethara’s Yas Marina Circuit which houses the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The plant is capable of meeting around 30% of the circuit’s demand which is equivalent to nearly 200 households. It will also reduce 900 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions yearly.

Over 1,800 solar modules were deployed across the car park of the track.
Emerge also power the 520 kilowatt-peak Yas Bay Waterfront development for Midal which could power 100 Abu Dhabi households and cut around 425 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
The project has over 900 solar modules installed.
