Masdar invests $8b to develop 10 GW renewable projects in Malaysia
The projects will include solar, onshore wind, and battery systems.
United Arab Emirates-based energy firm Masdar entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) to invest $8b for the development of up to 10 gigawatts of renewable projects in the Southeast Asia country.
In a statement, Masdar said MIDA will lead the company in developing the capacity by 2035 which will include ground-mounted, rooftop and floating solar plants, onshore wind farms, and battery energy storage systems.

MIDA CEO Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman said the partnership will support Malaysia’s achievement of its sustainable energy goals.
“It underscores our commitment to driving positive change and embracing the transition towards a greener, more sustainable future,” Rahman said.
