NTPC installs first overseas capacity in Bangladesh

It developed Unit 1 of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant.

India’s NTPC has deployed its first overseas capacity addition in Bangladesh with the operation of the first unit of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 660 megawatts (MW).

In a statement, the Ministry of Power said the power plant composed of two units with 660MW capacity each is located in Rampal, Mongla, Bagerhat in Bangladesh.

The addition brings NTPC’s installed capacity to 72,304MW.

The project’s development was in partnership with NTPC’s foreign joint venture firm Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Pvt Ltd.
