PH approves grid connection for 2 GW floating offshore wind farm

This sets the stage for detailed design and grid connection planning.

The Philippines’ National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has issued its final and unconditional approval for grid connection of BuhaWind Energy Philippines’s two gigawatt (GW) floating offshore wind farm located in Northern Luzon.

According to Copenhagen Energy, one of the developers along with PetroGreen Energy Corporation, authorities have also issued and accepted the System Impact Study Final Report, and approved the full project capacity.

“This paves the way for the next phase of development including detailed design and schedule of the overall grid connection,” Copenhagen Energy said.

The 2 GW offshore wind facility located offshore of Ilocos Norte is expected to be fully operational in 2030.
