Siemens gets maintenance deal for Vietnam plant

Siemens Energy has been entrusted by Petro Vietnam Power to provide maintenance service to Nhon Trach 2 Joint. This came five months after Siemens was awarded the Nhon Trach 2 Combined Cycle Power Plant project. It consists of two gas turbines, one steam turbine, the generators, the main electrical and instrumentation and controls equipment.

This maintenance service contract is to ensure the long-term predictable reliability and to provide additional technical and financial benefits to the plant, including predictable maintenance costs and extended warranties.

With a total capacity of about 750 megawatts (MW), the Nhon Trach 2 CCPP will be a major power generating facility in Vietnam. Its stable operation and proper maintenance will play a key role in supplying reliable power to meet the country‘s growing energy needs, and to help ensure sustainable development of the national economy. The contract scope covers the service for two gas turbines, one steam turbine and three generators.

"Vietnam has a fast growing economy with an increasing demand for energy. With a total installed capacity of about 15 gigawatts, the power generating capacity is expected to grow at a pace of more than 10 percent per year," said Mr. Erdal Elver, President and CEO of Siemens Ltd. Vietnam.

Referring to Siemens prospective development in energy sector, Mr. Erdal Elver pointed out: "In order to meet increasing demand of customers and further realise Siemens development strategy in the energy sector, we will be truly committed to Vietnam as demonstrated through our contributions to a number of major power plants with the most advanced technology and our growing local competence."
