Siemens to install Bangladesh-India grid interconnection

A sub station would link about 30 kilometers grid interconnection between Bangladesh and India to import 500MW electricity by 2012.

The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh tapped Siemens to install the interconnection. 

Secretary of PGCB Mohammad Asharf Hossain and Simens chief Alexander Bechhold signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies at PGCB office at New IEB Bhaban.

The sub station will be installed at the estimated cost of Tk 9.16 billion, said Power Grid Company of Bangladesh managing director Engr Md Jamal Ullah.

As per agreement, the government will pay 20 percent mobilised fund to Siemens for installing the sub-station. The sub-station should be completed within two years, according to Jamal Ullah.
