SJVN inks deal to set up 200 MW wind project with SECI

The estimated cost for the project is Rs 1,400 crores.

SJVN, through its wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 200 MW grid-connected wind project with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).

The company participated in a tariff-based competitive bidding process by SECI for the selection of wind power developers for 1,200 MW wind power projects. With this, SGEL has received 200 MW at a tariff of Rs. 3.24 per unit on a “build own and operate” basis.

The tentative cost for the project is Rs 1,400 Crores and the capacity is estimated to generate 482 million units in the first year, and 12,050 million units in 25 years.

With the project, SJVN’s wind portfolio has climbed to 497.6 MW. The other two projects have an aggregate capacity of 97.6 MW, and the remaining three projects have 400 MW in the stages of development.

The project’s capacity will help boost SJVN’s portfolio for renewable energy, achieving the company’s goals of 12,000 MW by 2026, and an installed capacity of 50,000 MW by 2040.
