Tilt Renewables launches Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System
This will support Victoria’s 95% renewable energy target by 2035
Tilt Renewables has launched the 100 megawatt / 200 megawatt-hour Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
According to the company, the project is located near Morwell, south-west of Melbourne.
“It will help us meet our ambitious 95% renewable energy target by 2035 and ensure Victorians have access to affordable, secure power,” said Victorian Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio.
The Latrobe Valley BESS works by storing excess energy—particularly from solar generation during the day—and releasing it during high-demand periods, such as evenings. This helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels, smooth out fluctuations in supply, and improve grid reliability.
Tilt Renewables’ partners include Fluence, Zenviron, AEMO, AusNet, Wilson Transformers, TwoMorrows Electrical, and LAI.
“The Latrobe Valley BESS is a cornerstone of Tilt Renewables’ growing portfolio of clean energy assets and reflects the company’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that benefit both communities and the environment,” the company said.
