VCI Global targets 100 MW of solar projects across SEA and Europe
This is projected to yield $200m in revenue over two decades.
VCI Global Limited is targeting to develop and acquire up to 100 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic projects across Southeast Asia and Europe within the next five years, with at least 70% to be sourced in Malaysia.
In a statement, the company said this will leverage key government programmes such as the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme that allows businesses to directly purchase green electricity from renewable energy developers. Through this initiative, VCI Global will supply renewable energy directly to its data centres.
VCI Global will also acquire solar farms in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, targeting 30 MW of solar capacity in these expanding markets.
The total investment required for these projects is projected to be $50m over five years. Overall, the expansion is expected to generate around $200m in revenue over the next 20 years.
