TNB to stop buying power from Singapore after June 15

Tenaga Nasional Bhd does not foresee a need to buy power from Singapore-based PowerSeraya Ltd beyond June 15.

TNB's chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohammad Noh, said it purchased power from Singapore due to planned maintenance work by Petroliam Nasional Bhd  on its production facility, which curtained gas supply to TNB's power plants.

"There were two major maintenance work carried out by Petronas and the next one will be at the end of this month.
"We managed to pull through during the last two and are confident of managing the next gas curtailment," he said.

The purchase of power from Singapore, he said, represented only about one per cent and it was basically to ensure supply security.
