The company earned two recognitions, demonstrating its initiatives for sustainable and efficient power generation on the global stage.

Guangdong YueDian Daya Bay Comprehensive Energy Co., Ltd. has taken home the Flexible Gas Power Project of the Year - Gold and Gas Power Project of the Year - China accolades at the Asian Power Awards 2024 for the launch of its Huizhou Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone Comprehensive Energy Station project.

In 2024, the company embarked on a remarkable journey with the launch of the Huizhou Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone Comprehensive Energy Station project.

This initiative represents a significant milestone and proof that exceptional engineering does not require a large footprint. This was supported by the fact that the project saved 4,813 square metres of land compared to conventional dual-side mechanical ventilation cooling towers. Despite this, the project still achieves advanced engineering, procurement and construction strategies.

High-efficiency integrated energy station 

The operation of the Guangdong YueDian Daya Bay Integrated Energy Station marks a historic shift in high thermal efficiency integrated energy utilisation. This was made possible by several innovative technologies including the 9HA.01 Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Generator Set. This system supplies ultra-high pressure steam to the ExxonMobil Huizhou ethylene project and captures hydrogen-containing tail gas produced during the process. This effectively addresses the high carbon emissions and energy waste associated with direct exhaust emissions.

The project also incorporates a hydrogen blending combustion design in its H-type gas turbine, allowing for a 10% hydrogen blending ratio. This is the first implementation of such a system in China. Such a system also plays a crucial role in addressing national energy shortages and global climate change.

Moreover, the initiative features Microporous Premixed Combustion System Technology—an innovation that combines the combustion cylinder and transition section into a single unit. Advanced premix burners enhance operational flexibility and fuel adaptability, which reduces combustion pulsation and lowers NOx emissions to meet stringent standards.

In addition to these, Guangdong YueDian Daya Bay Comprehensive Energy Co., Ltd. underscores its commitment to environmental management through ammonia Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. By utilising ultra-low emission burners, it achieves an impressive reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions to just 10.0 mg/Nm³, surpassing the strictest global emission regulations.

Driving a low-carbon future

Guangdong YueDian Daya Bay Comprehensive Energy Co., Ltd. is committed to maximising energy utilisation, without compromising its objective of significantly cutting carbon emissions. With this, the Huizhou Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone Comprehensive Energy Station project features an ultra-high pressure industrial steam capacity of 150 t/h per unit. This allows it to achieve a combined cycle efficiency of 63.4%. Under heating conditions, the overall thermal efficiency can exceed 70.51%. If two units operate at full capacity for 4,500 hours annually using 10% hydrogen fuel, the project can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 58,630 tons.

Furthermore, the integration of solar photovoltaic panels in the project buildings has also contributed to a 0.1% reduction in power consumption. This advances its goal of lowering pollution and carbon emissions whilst establishing a low-carbon, efficient and multi-energy complementary energy station.
