The company secured wins in Singapore, India, Thailand, bringing its total to four awards across the region.
Shell proved its excellence across the region, as it earned recognition in key categories at the Asian Oil & Gas Awards 2025 for Shell Singapore, Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd, and The Shell Company of Thailand.
Shell Singapore took home accolades for Digital Transformation Initiative of the Year - Singapore and Operations and Maintenance Initiative of the Year - Singapore. The twin achievements highlighted the company’s efforts to enhance both digital innovation and operational efficiency in its lubricants business across Asia Pacific.
Meanwhile, Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd. was awarded ESG Initiative of the Year - India for its work at the Taloja Lubricant Oil Blending Plant, and The Shell Company of Thailand received the Plant/Facilities Upgrade of the Year - Thailand accolade for its Integrated Plant Facility Upgrade Programme.
As Michael Alcantara, GM APAC Lubricants Supply Chain, aptly said: “These achievements are more than milestones — they reflect the collective passion of our world-class teams and strategic partners to create a positive impact for our customers, stakeholders, and the industry, as we drive the energy transition in step with society.”
"Together, we’ll continue to lead with purpose, inspire innovation, and shape a more sustainable future — as we POWER PROGRESS."
Shell Singapore
The operations and maintenance award recognised the multi-year transformation of Shell Lubricants APAC’s manufacturing network. Between 2019 and 2023, the company improved its overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) from 62% to 72%, supported by continuous improvement and total productive maintenance (TPM) programmes.
Initiatives such as the Race to 70% OEE, smart trade-offs in operations, and a phased TPM rollout across India, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam delivered significant capacity and cost optimisation benefits. Shell Singapore also invested in energy optimisation, digital work processes to reduce paper use, and projects projected to generate significant savings over the coming years.
Meanwhile, the digital transformation award recognised Shell Lubricants Supply Chain (APAC)’s Portfolio Lifecycle Management Ecosystem. Built in-house on Microsoft Power Platforms, the system integrated with existing Enterprise Resource Planning platforms at 90% lower cost than traditional software. It streamlined portfolio management, enabling a 30% reduction in stock-keeping units, a 25% faster new product introduction cycle, and significant commercial value annually.
Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd.
Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd. made remarkable strides with its Taloja Lubricant Oil Blending Plant. The introduced bottles are made with 100% recycled plastic and converted boiler fuel from furnace oil to natural gas, resulting in a measurable decrease in overall carbon emissions.
The company also advanced sustainable packaging with recyclable mono-material pouches that use significantly less plastic compared to traditional bottles.
The Shell Company of Thailand
To strengthen Thailand’s position as Shell’s lubricant export hub in the Asia Pacific, The Shell Company of Thailand launched the Integrated Plant Facility Upgrade Programme.
The initiative combines digitalisation and a higher degree of automation to improve operational efficiency, reduce risks, and future-proof the company’s manufacturing capability.
Enhancements included robotic arms to automate high-risk packaging tasks, inline labelling systems to reduce downtime, and real-time data monitoring with statistical process control. Additional features also include digital maintenance tracking and zero air leak detection tools.
