'Solutions with Compassion' wins at Asian Power Awards 2025
The world’s first utility-scale, grid-connected solar rooftop project transforms homes into clean energy generators
Philippine renewable energy company Jin Navitas Solaris, Inc. (SOLARIS), with its promise of bringing “Solutions with Compassion,” made waves on the Asian stage after clinching two major honours at the Asian Power Awards 2025.

SOLARIS bagged ESG Integration Excellence of the Year - GOLD and Sustainable Renewable Energy Initiative of the Year - SILVER for its groundbreaking NING*NING Solar Rooftop Project, a first-of-its-kind model that fuses clean energy generation with socialised housing development.
Developed in partnership with Philippine socialised housing developer Raemulan Lands, Inc., this initiative is the world’s first grid-connected, utility-scale solar rooftop installation embedded within a social housing community. More than just producing renewable power, the project represents a pioneering approach—allowing dignified housing to play an active role in advancing the country’s clean energy goals.
Each home in Raemulan’s Pasinaya Homes is transformed into a “Pasinaraw” home (from pasinaya, or new beginning, and araw, meaning sun), fitted with solar panels that feed electricity to the grid. What sets the project apart is how it redistributes its benefits: a share of electricity sales goes back to residents, supporting roof maintenance, street lighting, waste management, and shared solar facilities, alongside community capacity-building programmes.
Equally important, the model was designed without sacrificing agricultural land—addressing a common challenge in utility-scale renewable projects. For SOLARIS President and CEO Jose Alfonso Miras, this balance is at the heart of NING*NING’s vision.

“NING*NING shows that clean energy can do more than power homes—it can uplift communities, preserve farmland, and directly share its benefits with people,” Miras said.
The project’s pilot facility, energised in 2024 in Naic, Cavite, now spans 1,986 homes. It produces enough clean power to serve thousands of households annually whilst offsetting 6,233 metric tons of carbon dioxide every year.
The Asian Power Awards jury recognised SOLARIS with the ESG Integration Excellence of the Year - GOLD award for embedding environmental and social responsibility directly into the Pasinaya Homes brand—integrating solar energy into affordable housing. Meanwhile, the Sustainable Renewable Energy Initiative of the Year - SILVER award cited the scale and social impact of the Naic pilot.

Looking ahead, SOLARIS has its sights set on replication. The company plans to roll out three more rooftop projects across the Philippine provinces of Cavite, Bulacan, and Pampanga, totalling 35 MW capacity it secured in the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction.
“With more socialised housing developments rising across the country, we believe the NING*NING model can serve more communities—in the Philippines, and potentially beyond. More than energy output, we see it as a template for aligning clean energy expansion with social and agricultural priorities,” Miras added.
SOLARIS advances 13 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, including poverty reduction, sustainable cities, and affordable clean energy.
The Asian Power Awards celebrates the innovative and groundbreaking projects and initiatives in the power sector. Dubbed as the “Oscars” of the power industry, the awards programme honours companies that have taken game-changing steps to meet the growing energy demand.
