Thailand to sell hydropower to Malaysia, Cambodia

It is aiming to become the electricity hub in the ASEAN region.

Thailand is gearing itself to become the electricity hub in the ASEAN region by developing and enhancing its power transmission lines, sourcing hydropower from Laos and selling to Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar, a report by Xinhua revealed.

"In order to provide affordable electricity to people in ASEAN, we need to install modern transmission lines," permanent secretary of the Thai Energy Ministry Kulis Sombatsiri said. “Other alternatives include providing other sources of renewable energy including solar, wind and biomass power."
