India's SECI picks firms for 2.7GW of solar PV projects

SECI has selected companies for two large solar PV tenders in India with a total offered capacity of 2,700 MW. In the tender for 1,500 MW grid-connected solar PV power projects under CPSU scheme, Phase-II (Tranche-II), SECI has awarded 1,104 MW: 923 MW to NTPC, 100 MW to Indore Municipal Corporation. It has also awarded 900 MW out of 1,200 MW in the ISTS-connected solar PV power projects tender (ISTS-VI): ReNew Solar Power, Avaada Energy and Masaya Solar ENergy were each awarded 300 MW at a tariff of INR 2.71/kWh (US$3.8c/kWh).

Following this award, NTPC has invited bids for the turnkey construction of 923 MW of solar projects distributed in three project sizes: 50-90 MW; 100-190 MW; and, 200-300 MW. Successful bidders will also be in charge of the operation and maintenance of the project over a 3-year period. Bids will have to be submitted until 3 January 2020.
