NHPC to co-develop floating solar projects in Odisha

Projects will be planned under MNRE’s scheme in a phased manner.

India’s state-run NHPC has inked a memorandum of understanding with Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (GEDCOL) to form a joint venture for developing 500MW of floating solar energy projects in the state, ETEnergyWorld reported.

They may form a JV company to plan and develop such projects under the UMREPPs (Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks) scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in a phased manner. The projects are preferred to be in packages of 50MW each.

The two entities will also explore further potential of installing floating solar projects afterwards, following joint identification in Odisha.
