Sri Lanka eyes transmission link with India
The Sri Lankan government is eyeing a High Capacity Power Transmission Link in a joint venture with India.
A joint feasibility study is currently being carried out at a cost of US$ 3 million and a final decision on the mega project is to be made after the report is finalized next year.
Sri Lanka’s Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka said their government is looking at commissioning a HCPTL with the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
Ranawaka has said that it was decided at preliminary discussions to install the HCPTL via Mannar and Madurai.
