NTPC Group reaches 71,000MW installed capacity

This is following the completion of the first unit of a thermal project.

India’s largest power generator NTPC Group completed the trial operation of the first unit of the 660-megawatt North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (3x660MW) in Jharkhand.

In a statement, NTPC said this brings the company's total installed capacity to 71,544 megawatts.

The project is based on one of the most efficient supercritical technology and is expected to have an air-cooled condenser which has a one-third water footprint compared to a water-cooled condenser.
