Citicore breaks ground for 69 MWp solar project

The project is set for completion in 2024.

Citicore Renewable Energy Corp held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 69 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar project in Silay City in the province of Negros Occidental in Central Philippines.

In a statement, Citicore said the project which is expected to start operations within the year is part of its deliverables under the government’s Green Energy Augtion Programme 2.

The project, which occupies a land area of 69 hectares with a future expansion plan to 100 MWp, also forms part of the 792 MW renewable energy capacities awarded to Citicore under the 2023 Programme.

Citicore installed its first solar project in the province in 2016 with an installed capacity of 25 MWp.

It aims to deploy around one gigawatt of ready-to-build solar capacity in five years.
