India unveils 600 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park

It will generate over 4.6 billion units of clean energy in the next 25 years.

India has recently unveiled its 600 megawatt (MW) Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park which is one of the largest floating solar projects in Asia.

Located in Khandwa District, Madhya Pradesh, the floating solar facility so far has commissioned a total of 278 MW. The total estimated development cost of the park is INR330 crore, supported by a Central Financial Assistance of INR49.85 crore.

The project dedvelopers are Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, NHDC Ltd, AMP Energy Green Pvt Ltd, and SJVN Ltd. Once fully operational, the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park will generate more than 4.6 billion units of renewable energy over the next 25 years.

Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi also noted that Madhya Pradesh is one of the most important states contributing to fulfilling India’s energy security goals.
