Renova taps Shoreline Wind for onshore wind projects in Japan and PH

This aims to increase efficiency in the development of the projects.

Renewable energy developer Renova has partnered with Shoreline Wind (Shoreline) to implement its advanced construction simulations for its onshore wind projects in Japan and the Philippines.

In a statement, Renova said the partnership will cover the Reihoku-Amakusa project in Japan which is under construction, and the Mabini Wind Power Project in the Philippines which is in the pre-development phase.

“Even a 1% to 2% increase in efficiency during the developing and pre-development phases can save developers millions and accelerate construction, shortening the timeline to bring a site online,” the company said

The Reihoku-Amakusa project will have 13 wind turbines with a total capacity of 54.6 megawatts (MW). Amongst the challenges in building this facility are severe tidal restrictions at the arrival port, and Japan’s mountainous terrain limiting available land for wind turbine storage and construction staging.

Meanwhile, the Mabini Wind Power Project will have 6 to 8 turbines to generate approximately 50 MW of energy. One of the challenges in its development is the lack of an arrival port for secondary offshore transport, requiring the construction of a Temporary Landing Pad.

Renova said it will integrate Shoreline’s AI-powered simulation platform to optimise resource allocation and delivery of major components, improve project efficiency, and reduce costs.

The platform will help analyse various data, including weather patterns and logistical constraints, to accurately schedule transportation and construction activities. This is expected to lead to substantial cost savings for the project developer.
