Thailand seeks bids for 280 MWac floating solar project
The plant will start commercial operations in 2028.
Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is calling for bids for the 280 megawatt alternating current (MWac) Srinagarind Dam Floating Solar Project 3.
According to Thidade Eiamsai, deputy governor – Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy of EGAT, the 280 MWac Srinagarind Dam Floating Solar Project 3 in Kanchanaburi Province will start commercial operation in 2028 It is included in EGAT’s strategic plan for clean energy development.
The project will generate electrical power from floating solar panels installed on the dam’s reservoir and share the main infrastructure and equipment with the existing hydropower plant, resulting in lower generation cost and reasonable electricity cost.
The floating solar plant is part of Thailand’s Power Development Plan 2018-2037 Revision 1, which aims to develop floating solar projects on EGAT’s dam reservoirs nationwide, with a total generating capacity of 2,725 megawatts by 2037.
