Australia selects 16 projects in CIS battery storage tender
This will benefit over 3.5 million homes.
Australia has selected 16 large-scale battery projects that will deliver 4.13 gigawatts or around 15.37 gigawatt-hours of battery storage capacity.
In a statement, the government said the projects are spread across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia. The 15.37 gigawatt-hour capacity is enough to power over 3.5 million homes for four hours during peak demand.
Some of the projects selected are the 406 megawatt-hour (MWh) Bulabul 2 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) operated by AMPYR Australia, the 1,100 MWh Deer Park BESS operated by Akaysha Energy, the 1,200 MWh Capricorn BESS operated by Potentia Energy, and the 800 MWh Koolunga BESS operated by Equis.
Following this tender, Australia said it will soon launch the tender for National Electricity Market generation this month, followed by the tender for dispatchable capacity in November.
