Power 4 All wins Asian Power Awards 2025 for school electrification programme
The organisation has provided reliable solar power to classrooms, administrative offices, and essential learning facilities.
Power generation organisation Power 4 All was awarded the Power Utility of the Year - Philippines accolade at the prestigious Asian Power Awards 2025 for its School Electrification Programme that has created safer streets and stronger, more resilient neighbourhoods through the provision of clean, renewable energy to the country’s most underserved communities.
The School Electrification Programme addresses the critical gap in access to electricity in remote schools across the Philippines. Previously marginalised schools are being turned into hubs of learning and opportunity through the organisation’s solar power. These solar power systems typically power essential school needs such as lights, fans, laptops, printers, and basic teaching tools, improving teaching conditions and learning experiences.
During the pandemic, this access to electricity has also proved critical, allowing blended learning to continue in areas previously cut off from digital education.
Since 2011, over 260 schools across the country have been electrified, impacting more than 80,000 students. In partnership with One Meralco Foundation, Power 4 All has installed portable solar PV systems in hard-to-reach areas. These compact and low-maintenance systems offer a cost-efficient, long-term solution where grid extension is not feasible.
Between 2022 and 2024 alone, 25 new off-grid schools have been energised with 1kW solar PV systems across five major regions. These installations go beyond academics; they turn schools into multifunctional community centres, offering electricity for gatherings, device charging, and disaster response.
The School Electrification Programme is a testament to shared leadership and collaborative commitment, with 60% of its contributors coming from the management team and the remaining 40% from employees across various departments. Together, they have collectively devoted over 1,600 person-hours to the initiative.
“Environmental obstacles like harsh terrain and extreme weather, social barriers within marginalised communities, financial constraints, and bureaucratic delays have all been overcome through collaboration, respect, and innovation. From coordinating with local leaders to involving residents in the transport and installation of systems, Power 4 All ensures every project is locally embraced and sustainable,” the organisation said.
