India releases INR 37,000 crore under power distribution scheme

The funding aims to revamp the power distribution sector.

India releases INR 37,000 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The Ministry of Power said this is about 38 % of the total sanctioned Gross Budgetary Support for the scheme.

For fiscal year 2025-2026, Andhra Pradesh received INR 204 crore, Bihar received INR 985 crore, Madhya Pradesh received INR 1,235 crore, and Uttar Pradesh INR 1,714 crore to name a few.

The release of Funds under the scheme is contingent upon the Distribution companies (DISCOMs) achieving milestones and completing other requirements as per fund release guidelines, without any delay.
