Canopy Power and Candela to advance water mobility in APAC
The partnership aims to deliver a fossil-free transport ecosystem for coastal areas.
Singapore’s Canopy Power have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sweden’s Candela to develop water mobility in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Canopy Power specialises in renewable microgrids and floating solar, whilst Candela focuses on electric hydrofoil vessels.
The partnership aims to deliver a fossil-free transport ecosystem for coastal areas by combining Candela’s long-range P-12 electric ferry with Canopy Power’s microgrid solution.
According to the press release, the P-12 uses 80% less energy than traditional hulls, making it the first electric ferry capable of long operational ranges at high speeds.
Also, the companies intend to demonstrate that the switch to electric hydrofoiling significantly reduces operational expenditures compared to diesel alternatives.
