ReNew becomes India’s second-largest renewable player with 12.6 GW capacity

Total operating capacity reached to about 12.6 GW.

ReNew Energy Global Plc (ReNew) has commissioned approximately 2.4 GW of renewable energy assets in FY2026, bringing its total operating capacity to around 12.6 GW as of 31 March 2026. This positions the company as the second-largest renewable energy operator in India.

The newly commissioned capacity includes 1.75 GW of solar power, 620 MW of wind energy, and 25 MW/100 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS).

After accounting for the sale of 600 MW of assets during the fiscal year, ReNew’s gross installed capacity now stands at approximately 20 GW. An additional 450 MW of fully constructed capacity is expected to come online soon.

ReNew Green, the company’s C&I business, has 2.5 GW of committed capacity, with over 2.0 GW already operational. It continues to work with major global clients including Microsoft, Amazon, and Google.

In March 2026, it raised $95 million in equity funding led by Leapfrog Investments.

In manufacturing, ReNew operates 6.5 GW of solar module capacity and 2.5 GW of cell capacity, with a 4 GW expansion underway due by December 2026.

FY2026 output exceeded 4.1 GW of modules and 1.86 GW of cells. The segment also received $100m investment from British International Investments earlier this year.

The company operates across 150+ renewable energy sites and three solar manufacturing facilities in 10 states, employing about 4,500 people.

At 12.6 GW operating capacity, ReNew estimates its portfolio can power approximately 24 million households and avoid about 23 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
