Seaway7 wins Hai Long offshore wind cable installation contract in Taiwan
The scope includes inner-array and export cable installation.
Seaway7 has signed a contract with Hai Long Offshore Wind Power to install inner-array and export cables for the Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan.
The agreement finalizes key procurement for the project, which is now moving toward the construction phase. The signing ceremony took place in Taipei following the market announcement made on 14 February 2023.
The scope covers transport and installation of inner-array cables, cable protection systems, and four export cables. The export cables will connect the offshore substation to the onshore substation using horizontal directional drilling (HDD).
Seaway7 will deploy the cable-lay vessel Maersk Connector, on long-term charter, for the installation works. Project execution will be managed from Seaway7’s Taipei office.
The company said it is currently executing four offshore cable projects in Taiwan supporting over 2.5 GW of grid capacity.
Hai Long Project CEO Tim Kittelhake said HDD works are planned to start in 2023, with offshore cable installation campaigns running from 2024 to 2025.
The project is still subject to final investment decision (FID).
