I Squared Capital launches Cube Grid to expand India power transmission assets
It plans to deploy up to $1b in equity for asset development and acquisitions.
I Squared Capital has launched Cube Grid, a new power transmission platform focused on building and acquiring electricity infrastructure across India.
The firm said it plans to invest up to $1b in equity capital into Cube Grid, which will be used to build and acquire a scaled portfolio of high-quality transmission infrastructure assets nationwide.
As part of its initial rollout, Cube Grid has signed agreements for seed assets totaling more than 1,450 circuit kilometers of transmission lines. These projects are being developed with Dineshchandra Group, an infrastructure developer with experience across India and international markets including Australia, West Asia, and Africa.
The initiative comes as India’s power transmission sector is expected to grow significantly, supported by government-led grid expansion plans and rising renewable energy capacity.
The government estimates around $120b in transmission investment needs over the next five to seven years to integrate new power generation and meet demand growth.
