Malaysia to tap India’s wind power expertise

Malaysia is exploring a tie-up with India's Centre for Wind Energy Technology to utilise its technical expertise in the field.

C-WET is a centre for wind-energy development that aims to help make India self-reliant in the power sector and is a part of the country's New and Renewable Energy Ministry.

Malaysian minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, told Malaysian national news agency Bernama that India has a world-standard advanced wind-energy development programme that has good resource potential for Malaysia.

At present, India has about 13,000MW installed capacity in wind power, which generates about 1.6 per cent of the nation's power capacity.
