Basic Energy pursues study on 20MW geothermal project

Basic Energy Corp. commissioned a prefeasibility study for a 20-megawatt Mabini geothermal energy project in Batangas.

The prefeasibility study, to be conducted by Filtech Energy Drilling Corp., would consist of technical predevelopment, technical development, environmental and social, financial and economics, project schedule and implementation, as well as risk assessment.

According to Basic Energy, the study would validate the Controlled Magneto-Telluric survey that Basic Energy conducted last year and provide a more detailed geophysical and geologic evaluation, determine the best drilling locations, and simulate the technical, operational and economic feasibility of a 20-MW geothermal power plant, assuming a success drilling phase.
