Australia's Queensland targets 50% of renewables target by 2030

An upcoming reverse auction for 400MW capacity has been announced as well.

The government of Queensland in north-eastern Australia has confirmed the target for its state to reach a 50% renewable energy target (RET) by 2030 and announced an upcoming reverse auction for up to 400 MW of renewable energy, including 100 MW of energy storage, according to Enerdata.

The government has announced its Powering Queensland Plan, a roadmap to put downward pressure on electricity prices, power jobs and investment and lead the State’s transition to a low-carbon electricity sector.

"Queensland will invest A$1.16bn (US$867m) to ensure affordable, secure and sustainable energy supply for Queensland homes, businesses and industry. The state will bet on solar and will invest A$770m (US$575m) in the Solar Bonus Scheme, to slash the price increase by more than half. Queensland will also seek to improve large-scale project facilitation, planning and network connections and will implement the Queensland Gas Action Plan," Enerdata said.
