His appointment marks the completion of senior leadership in the company’s key markets.

Aquila Clean Energy APAC has appointed clean energy and infrastructure professional Netoshi Kuriyama as the country head for Japan, mandated to oversee the company’s assets in the country.

Prior to joining Aquila Clean Energy APAC, Kuriyama held a dual role as Japan Country Manager for Vestas Japan and Senior Vice President and Deputy CEO of MHI Vestas Japan, where he played a key role in reaching the 1 gigawatt wind project deployment in 2023.

He also held different senior leadership roles in his 30-year career, such as CEO of Sonnedix Japan and Japan Country Manager for SunEdison.

“With our focus on the nascent but expanding energy storage sector combined with onshore wind and solar, we expect to see continued growth in the Japanese renewables market,” Kuriyama said.

“Japan has a goal of cutting 2013 carbon emissions 46% by 2030 and we are excited to do our part to put renewables at the forefront of the country’s energy transition as we continue to invest in, develop, construct and operate high-quality clean energy projects,” he added.

Kuriyama’s appointment came following the announcement of Dennis Freedman as Head of Australia & New Zealand, Richard Chang as Head of Taiwan, and Achal Sondhi as Head of Investment and Portfolio Management this year. Kim Hi Hong was also named Head of Korea in 2022.
