India’s coal production up 7.12% in August

Coal dispatch to the power sector grew to 325.97 MT.

The Indian government has announced that the country’s coal production reached 370.67 million tonnes (MT) as of 25 August, marking a 7.12% increase from 346.02 MT in last year’s period.

Coal dispatch to the power sector also grew to 325.97 MT, up from 313.44 MT in the previous year.

According to the Ministry of Coal, this increase occurred despite a substantial opening storage of 47 MT at thermal power plants (TPPs) as of 1 April.

Meanwhile, the overall coal stock, including stocks at pitheads, mines, TPPs, and in transit, reached 121.57 MT, up 36.2% from 89.28 MT last year.

Coal stock at TPPs (DCB) rose 27.41$ to stand at 37.55 MT from 29.47 MT.
