New South Wales commits $10.6m to support 7,000 renewable jobs
Funding backs workforce pipeline under Energy Roadmap.
The Albanese and Minns Labor governments will invest $10.6 (A$15m) to strengthen New South Wales’ renewable energy workforce.
The supporting projects are expected to generate around 7,000 peak construction jobs and 4,500 ongoing roles under the state’s Energy Roadmap.
The funding forms part of the Renewable Energy Skills Strategy, which aims to build training pathways from school-based trade programmes to apprenticeships and traineeships across solar, wind, and transmission infrastructure.
The Strategy will expand the Regional Industry Education Partnerships programme and establish Skills Coordinator roles to work with employers, training providers, and local communities.
Major infrastructure projects under the Energy Roadmap include EnergyConnect and the Hunter Transmission Project, with Transgrid identified as a key delivery partner.
The government said the investment is intended to ensure regional communities are equipped with the skills required for construction, operation and maintenance roles linked to the renewable energy transition.
