Sembcorp bags first round-the-clock power project in India

This is part of a 1.2 GW tender for RTC power.

Sembcorp Industries has secured its first 50 megawatt (MW) round-the-clock (RTC) power project in India from Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI).

In a statement, the company said the project was secured through its wholly-owned renewables subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited. This is under a build-own-operate arrangement and is part of SECI’s 1.2 gigawatt (GW) tender for RTC power from Inter-State Transmission System-connected renewable energy projects.

Sembcorp will integrate 300 MW of installed capacity, comprising solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions.

The project is under a 25-year power purchase agreement with SECI, wherein it will supply RTC renewable power supported by BESS.

Commercial operation is expected within 24 months from the date of signing the deal. The project will be funded through a mix of internal funds and debt.

The project will help bring Sembcorp’s gross renewables capacity to more than 6.5 GW in India. It is not expected to have a material impact on the earnings per share and net tangible assets per share of the company for the financial year ending 31 December 2025
