Sembcorp faces delay in 49 MW hydropower asset acquisition

The company ensures the exercise of discipline in assessing upcoming investments.

Sembcorp’s acquisition of a 49 megawatt (MW) hydropower asset has been delayed, as the company awaits government approval for the deal.

In a bourse filing, Sembcorp said its wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp Solar Vietnam Pte Ltd. expects to receive the necessary approvals by the end of 2025.

The deal is part of a 245 MW renewable energy portfolio Sembcorp is acquiring in Vietnam.

“For new investments in the country, Sembcorp will continue to exercise discipline in assessment, taking into consideration the regulatory uncertainties,” the company said.
