South Korea’s Taihan Cable to build $50.6m plant in Vietnam
Operations are expected in 2027.
Taihan Cable & Solution Co., South Korea’s second-largest cable maker, said Thursday it will expand its Vietnamese operations to meet rising global demand.
Its subsidiary, Taihan Vina, will invest $50.6m (KRW75b) to build a plant at the Long Thanh Industrial Complex that will produce 400-kilovolt extra-high-voltage cables.
Operations are expected in 2027.
The new facility will make Taihan Vina the only company in Vietnam capable of producing 400-kilovolt cables, serving both domestic projects and overseas markets including Europe, the U.S., and Oceania.
"The new plant will support the Vietnamese government's power grid development projects while strengthening Taihan Cable's position in the global energy infrastructure market," said Kim Joon-seok, deputy chief executive officer of Taihan Cable.
Taihan Cable also operates plants in South Korea, South Africa, Kuwait, Vietnam, and a cable accessories plant in Saudi Arabia.
