SP Group deploys 240 MWp agrivoltaic project in China

This will be fully operational by the end of 2024.

SP Group has deployed its largest solar photovoltaic (PV) project in China, a 240-megawatt-peak (MWp) agrivoltaic project in Huizhou, Guangdong.

The Huizhou project, located in Huidong County, is also the largest grid-connected solar project in Guangdong. It is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2024, covering approximately 660 acres of land with a solar installation capacity of 240 megawatts.

It combines solar power and agriculture, promoting sustainable land use and contributing to economic growth, clean energy, and environmental protection, SP Group said.

Over the next 25 years, it is expected to generate 7.5 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity, reduce coal use by 920,000 tonnes, and prevent 4.46 million tonnes of carbon emissions.

“We are confident this utility-scale solar project in Huizhou will meet the demand for green energy in the Greater Bay Area and contribute to China's progress towards low-carbon agriculture and infrastructure development," said Michael Zhong, managing director, China, at SP Group.

To date, SP Group has secured 1.45 gigawatts of solar projects in China, with its sustainable energy solutions spanning 18 provinces and municipalities, primarily focusing on commercial estates and industrial parks.
