Toyo Kohan and HSE ink virtual PPA for onshore wind under Japan’s FIP scheme

It marks the group’s first virtual PPA and first wind power procurement.

Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd. has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) with HSE Corporation for onshore wind power under Japan’s Feed-in Premium (FIP) scheme.

Under the agreement, HSE will supply environmental value equivalent to 18 GWh annually from three onshore wind power plants via its role as an aggregator.

The project is expected to reduce Toyo Kohan’s greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 8,700 tons per year.

The initiative supports Toyo Kohan’s Eco Action Plan 2030, which targets a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by FY2030 (vs. FY2019) and carbon neutrality by FY2050.

The company plans to use renewable energy expansion, including this project, to cover about 25% of electricity demand at its Kudamatsu Plant by FY2030.

This marks the first virtual PPA and first wind-power renewable energy adoption within the Minebea Group, including MinebeaMitsumi Inc..
