Turfan exceeds 50 billion KWh power generation
Six new grid projects have been built to support the system.
The State Grid Turfan Power Supply Company has reported that the cumulative new energy power generation enabled by the Turfan power grid has reached 52.612 billion kilowatt-hours on 3 November.
In a statement, the company said this led to the conservation of 30.47 million tonnes of standard coals and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 80.09 million tonnes.
Turfan’s first wind and solar power plants were built in 2007 and 2011, respectively.
On 26 October, the first phase of the 1 million kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic + solar-thermal integrated project in Qiquanhu Town, Turfan, began generating electricity. This pushed the grid’s total installed new energy capacity to 4.14 million KW, which now accounts for 56.8% of the region's total installed power capacity.
To ensure secured delivery of new energy, the company has built six new supporting power grid projects to promote new energy grid connection and consumption.
By the end of this year, the installed capacity of new energy is expected to increase to 6.74 million kW, accounting for 67.3% of the total installed capacity of the power supply. By then, the utilisation rate of new energy will reach 95%.
