Unified Indonesian time zone may save energy: PLN

Perusahaan Listrik Negara will study the benefits of unifying Indonesian time zones, including electricity savings.

This was revealed by PLN corporate communication manager Bambang Dwiyanto. .

According to Bambang, PLN would calculate the electricity savings from the industrial and business sectors because they consume most of the power supplied by the company. They are aso looking into the extent of savings from the household sector, even though it would be less than from industry and business.

“The household customer is not as significant to the electricity savings; those from industry and business will be more significant,” he says.

The government plans to merge the three existing Indonesian time zones to one based on the Central Indonesian Time Zone (WITA), or GMT +8. (riz).
