Tata Power to develop 7 GW of projects in Andhra Pradesh

This will cover solar, wind, and hybrid assets.

Tata Power Company Limited has announced that its subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has signed an agreement to develop 7,000 megawatts of clean energy projects in Andhra Pradesh.

In a statement, Tata Power said this will include solar, wind, and hybrid projects with or without storage solutions. The estimated investment in these projects stands at approximately INR 49,000 crore, making it one of the largest renewable energy investments in the state.

The proposed capacities would be set up under Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, a clean energy framework that aims for the state to develop over 160 gigawatts of renewable energy with an investment potential of INR 10 lakh crore.

As part of the agreement, TPREL will conduct preliminary assessments, feasibility studies, and development activities to explore the viability of these projects. Meanwhile, the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh will assist in terms of facilitation, site identification, and evacuation infrastructure.
