Australia unveils National Energy Performance initiative
It aims to support energy-saving upgrades.
The Australian Government has launched the National Energy Performance which aims to help consumer gain control of their energy use and save costs.
In a statement, the government said the strategy, which focuses on the areas of economy, households, communities, businesses and industry, energy system, and technology and innovation, wants to provide more consumers with access to energy-saving upgrades.
“We want more Australians to have the choice to save on energy and save on bills, and this strategy, along with our large investments’ energy-saving upgrades for households and businesses across the country, does just that,” said Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen.

“Australia has a clear-cut plan to drive action on the demand side of the energy market to support the economy-wide energy transformation and help put downward pressure on energy bills,” he added.
The government noted that energy performance upgrades include enhancing energy efficiency appliances, homes and buildings, maximising off-peak times for the reduction of energy cost, and utilising renewable energy technologies.
Australia allocated nearly $10m (A$15.2m) to develop and deliver the project's goals through 2026.
