Bundelkhand’s 8 solar park projects get green light

The solar parks have a total capacity of 4,995 megawatts.

A total of eight solar park projects with a total capacity of 4,995 megawatts (MW) have been approved in the Bundelkhand region, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

The projects include Jalaun Solar Park (1,200MW), Chhatarpur Solar Park (950MW), Chitrakoot Solar Park (800MW), Barethi Solar Park (630MW), Lalitpur Solar Park (600MW), Jhansi Solar Park (600MW), UP Solar Park-Jalaun District Site (150MW), and the Kalpi Solar Park (65MW).

“In general, solar power projects are likely to result in various benefits like electricity generation, economic development, local direct and indirect employment, etc. around the area that they come up,” the ministry said.

India’s renewable energy capacity reached 168.96 gigawatts as of February 2023, led by solar power with 64.38GW.
