CHN Energy’s renewables capacity exceed 40% of total power capacity
Projects commissioned last year reached a record high.
CHN Energy has exceeded its 14th Five-Year Plan's clean energy target a year early, with over 140 million kilowatts of installed renewable energy now comprising more than 40% of its total power capacity.
In a statement, the company said it added 20.26 million kilowatts of wind power capacity, and 54.47 million kilowatts of solar energy capacity. It initiated 31.18 million kilowatts of new energy projects and commissioned 27.73 million kilowatts in 2024, marking a record high.
CHN Energy also has a total of 8.24 million kilowatts of conventional hydropower currently under construction, ranking first in China. It completed and commissioned 100 new storage projects with a total installed capacity of 3.33 million kilowatts/5.95 million kilowatt-hours by the end of 2024.
Focusing on large-scale base construction, CHN Energy renewables portfolio includes wind, solar, biomass, tidal, geothermal, and hydrogen energy. It has accelerated the development of new energy bases in desert and arid regions, including the Tengger Desert in Ningxia region and the Badain Jaran Desert in Gansu province, as well as hydropower and wind-solar projects in the Dadu River basin and renewable energy bases in the Kaidu River basin.
